About Us

The Fort McKay Women`s Association, established in 1997, is a non-profit organization registered under the Alberta Societies Act. 

It operates as the ‘Fort McKay Wellness Center’.

 

The Fort McKay Wellness Center serves children and youth, ages 5 to 17 who reflect the rich diversity of our community.

Mission Statement:

Our programs help children and youth become caring, self-directed individuals responsible to themselves, their family and their community.  Our programs promote skill building, self-reliance and personal development, cultural education and activities, recreation, environmental and community awareness.

The Fort McKay Wellness Center takes pride in providing quality programming in a positive & safe environment while promoting inclusiveness and a sense of belonging.

 

The Fort McKay Women’s Association offers a safe and nurturing environment in which all children and youth have each and every opportunity to reach their full potential.  Staff are committed to providing quality program delivery.  Our quality checklist:

 

  • Children and youth are happy and involved in programming activities

  • Staff are energetic, compassionate, caring and fun

  • The center’s equipment is accessible, clean and safe

  • All programs and activities take place in well maintained areas

  • Staff are positive role models and have appropriate training

  • Food served is nutritionally balanced

  • The center is a safe and caring environment for all children and youth
